The short version
Spool collects the minimum needed to run the product: an email address to sign you in, billing details handled entirely by our payment provider, and the recordings you make. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run third-party ad trackers, and transcription happens on our own server rather than being sent to an outside AI company.
What we collect
Account & sign-in
Signing in with an email link stores that email address — nothing else, no password, ever. Signing in with Google shares your Google account’s email address, name and profile photo, and a stable identifier Google issues for your account, which we use to recognise you on future sign-ins.
Sessions are a single-purpose cookie (or, for the desktop app, an equivalent header) that identifies your signed-in session and nothing more. It carries no tracking payload and is not shared with any third party. You can end every session at once from your account page.
Recordings
The video and audio you record. Recordings are encrypted at rest on our server. A recording’s share link and the capability to delete it work independently of your account — that is deliberate, not a gap: it means a link you shared keeps working exactly as promised even if account details change.
Billing
Payment is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card number — only the subscription status and dates Lemon Squeezy reports back to us.
Server logs & analytics
We run our own analytics, not a third-party tracking service. It records a closed, fixed set of event names and properties — for example, that a trial started, not who or on what recording — and activity tied to a specific recording is never logged with an account or video identifier attached. Nothing here is sold or shared with advertisers, because there are no advertisers.
Transcription and AI features
When transcription is available, it runs entirely on our own server — audio is not sent to an outside AI company for this deployment. AI-assisted editing is not currently enabled on Spool. If either of those changes, this page will be updated before it does.
Who we share data with
The handful of services that ever see part of your data:
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google, to confirm your identity.
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing, as our merchant of record.
- Resend — delivering sign-in links and receipts to your inbox.
- Hetzner — our hosting provider, based in Germany. Your data is stored on a server in the EU.
None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
Cookies
One cookie, and it is essential: it identifies your signed-in session. There is no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking cookie, and nothing here reads or writes cookies on any site but this one.
Deleting your data
You can delete any recording you own at any time, which removes it permanently. To close your account or ask what we hold about you, email hello@sendspool.com — a fully self-serve export/delete flow is planned but not shipped yet, so this is handled by a person for now.
Changes to this policy
As Spool grows, this page will be replaced with a counsel-reviewed version. Until then, if what we do changes, this page changes with it — the “last updated” date above is the way to tell.
Contact
hello@sendspool.com reaches a person, not a ticket queue.
What you are agreeing to when you use Spool — the plan, the trial, and what happens to your links when you stop paying — is set out in the terms of service.
